Fifteenth Annual Nonpoint Source Water Quality Monitoring Results
Workshop was held January 4-6, 2005, at Boise State University.
The purpose of the workshop was to share results of nonpoint source
water quality monitoring efforts throughout Idaho. The workshop
is an annual event sponsored by the Idaho Departments of Environmental
Quality, Fish and Game, Lands, and Agriculture; the U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency, Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management,
and Geological Survey; Agricultural Research Service; Electronic
Data Solutions; Eco-Analysts, Inc.; and CH2M HILL.
G. Wayne Minshall of Idaho
State University was the keynote speaker at the 2005 workshop. He
discussed "Nonpoint Source Effects of Fire on Idaho Wilderness Streams: A Long-Term
Perspective." Other topics included a proposed statewide fish tissue
monitoring program for mercury, temperature and E. coli monitoring
in the Boise River Basin, Idaho rural road maintenance best management
practices, and historical trends in stream discharge at long-term
gaging stations in Idaho. Speakers included representatives of the
U.S. Geological Survey, City of Boise, Department of Environmental
Quality, Department of Water Resources, U.S. Forest Service, U.S.
Bureau of Land Management, Idaho Power Company, and several private
sector consulting firms.
